Creating a strong mindset is the first step for self development
Self-development is a must thing in order to cope up in daily life. Whether this should be applied in workplace or anywhere else, without it, one cannot survive. Now the question may arise how one should focus on developing oneself. It can be many things such as being productive or increasing skill etc. However, the most important part which most of the people miss is creating a strong mindset.
No matter how small these two words may seem, they carry heavy weight and immense values. So, when someone thinks of a new idea, the first thing that obstructs them is the mental barrier. The fear if this really can be done or not. The only way to overcome this is the creating the mindset that no matter the outcome, I'll do it. There are many youths who has many ideas but they can't come up with anything because they can't even take the first step overcoming their mental barrier. Secondly, the fear of judgement of what others will say. If anybody wants to succeed, one has to stop thinking like that. That is why, if one cannot create a strong mindset, they're bound to face obstruction in every steps no matter how much they want to develop themselves.
There are certain steps which should be followed in order to achieve a strong mindset, which actually completes 50% of self-development.
Fixing Goals
A mind always wanders new things. Human beings always have the tendency to observe new things, thinking what if I could do this or that. Most of the time, people fail to take decision because they don't know what they actually want to do. Sometimes, they get afraid of taking the first step and starts to procrastinate, resulting in not doing anything at all. So, first one has to fix a goal thinking about where his potentials lie. Then creating the mindset of doing that in any cost, one can gradually succeed.
Getting out of Comfort Zone
This is actually the most effective step for creating a strong mindset as well as self-growth. Human beings, naturally has the tendency to be there where his comfort lies. So, when he faces a new environment, usually he feels afraid to interact. As it hinders growth, a person also gets self-convinced subconsciously that life will go on like this. But the reality is far far different. So, a person has to force himself to get out of comfort zone and actively participate in new things, either that be communicating with new people or trying tasks which were never tried. As much as it sounds disenchanting for introverts, this will boost their communication skills as well as develop soft skills. When a person gets out of comfort zone, his mental barrier is passed and a person gets strong mentally. He starts to believe that nothing can stop him and as a result, he don't get afraid to take new steps in future.
Taking New Challenges
Once a person fixes their goals and gets out of their comfort zone, its the time for them to try new challenge. A person can always challenge himself with new things. There are many tasks which might seem impossible. He can take the steps to do that. Once a task is solved which used to seem impossible, a person gets strong mentally. With every new challenge completed, a person grows exponentially. After all, taking small steps and overcoming new challenge everyday can be a lot intriguing than doing nothing at all.
Why change the Mindset and why not just focus on self-development?
Well, here's the thing. If a weak mindset is not changed, a person will fail midway after losing all hope and courage. All the person who breaks records are mentally very strong. According to Guiness World Records, George Hood, a 62 year old former marine set a record for planking for 8 hours straight. Kevin Fast, a weight puller pulled an entire plane for 28 feet. What made them accomplish these impossible tasks? It's their self-confidence and strong mindset that they can do this no matter what. If they were mentally not so strong, their body would give up eventually. In the end, mental and physical strengths are correlated.
